February 6, 1931; May 18, 2012 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather, and cherished family member, Brian, who passed away peacefully of pneumonia in Lions' Gate Hospital on May 18, 2012. He was undergoing chemotherapy for prostate cancer when he fell ill. He is survived by his wife Susan Margaret (nee Helyar), his brother, John (Josephine), his sons Mark Phillip (Patricia), and Kevin (Celine), his grandchildren, Jordan Phillip, Kyle Alexander, Hailey Brooke, Avery John, and Benjamin Gordon. He is predeceased by his son Adam (May 24, 2012). Brian was an extremely loving and devoted father and grandfather. He will be remembered by all his family and friends as a very bright, energetic, charismatic gentleman with a marvellous sense of humour. He was a man of extraordinary dedication, dignity, and integrity. Brian was born in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, England, on February 6, 1931. He was a proud member of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment of the British Army, serving in Japan during the Korean War in 1952-53. He came to Canada in 1957, living in Toronto before moving to Vancouver in 1966. A service will be held to remember Brian on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC Cancer Foundation.
