John Currie (1846 - 1911) was a Scot who emigrated to Almonte, Ontario to work in a Woolen Mill.
Early life
Currie was born in Selkirk, Scotland in 1946.
Marriage
He married Mary Riddell (1943-1929) in Scotland.
Together, they had three sons and three daughters. His three daughters, Teena, Mary, and Grace, all remained in Almonte, and lived past 90 years.
One son, John (1879-1899), lived only to age 20.
Another of his sons was Alex Currie, who would go on to become patriach in Winnipeg of a substantial Currie dynasty with his fiesty wife Annie.
The third son, Walter Currie, moved to Worchester, Massachusetts.
