Mary Jane Day was born on 18 October 1875 in Nottawasaga, Simcoe, Ontario to farmer John Day and Catherine Montgomery.
Marriage and family
She married J.J. Carrick on 20 December 1899 in Simcoe, Ontario. Their marriage certificate gives her occupation as "domestic", and her father's as "farmer". [2]
She had three sons, Jack, Don, and Alex, all of whom attended St. Andrew's College at the University of Toronto, and were successful athletes and stockbrokers.
