Deborah Shannon, 2016

Deborah Shannon, born (1953-03-03) 3 March 1953 (age 72), is the daughter of Vivian Shannon and the granddaughter of Edna Buxton.

She is first cousins once removed with Ron Currie.

Growing up, Deborah was a scholarship dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, BA graduate from U of Manitoba. Worked for Expo 86, artistic, public speaker, well travelled.

Marriage and children

She was married to Ron Hamilton, and now divorced. She later married Thomas Calkin, Deborah bore two sons, Jonathan, and Benjamin, who sadly died in 1992 and 93, at birth. They carried a a recessive gene for Polycystic Kidney Disease. Polycystic kidney disease had never been known in either family before this. Deborah and Tom divorced in 1999.

Deborah suffered severe postpartum depression following the death of her sons. Has lived in Vancouver, New Brunswick, Toronto.

Moved to Gimli, Manitoba in February 2020, to share life with her 90 year old mother.
