These men didn't talk about their experience likely because they witnessed "massive carnage". We celebrate their bravery today, and of course they were heroes who did a necessary thing. But frankly, they were flying in massive sorties of hundreds of planes, to deliver bombs to kill thousands of civilians in Germany. Although it strategic bombing was probably important to win the war, it was perhaps something your father and my great uncle didn't feel "proud" of in the sense of wanting to talk about it. How can they be proud of killing people? I can't fully imagine what their mental state would have been after the way.

Garf Boyd

17 August 2019:

Based on Garf Boyd's obituary, I know he had three children: Randy, Debbie, and Sandy.

I looked up and called Randy Boyd in Westlock at (780) 349-6255 but he said to contact his sister, but then hung up without giving her name and/or number.

I found a number for a George Brost in Westlock ((780) 349-4257), and Joan Brost (rhymes with "roast") picked up. It turns out she is the wife of George, who is brothers with Gerald Brost.

Actually here is the number for Gerald Borst: (780) 829-2014 Likely I can reach her there.
