Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Charles Robert “Bob” Upsdell (8 July 1931 - 6 February 1998) was the second husband of Betty Buxton.

He was born 8 July 1931 in Penticton, British Columbia, to Charles Russell Upsdell; Ontario and Verona Payne; San Francisco, California, USA.

In 1951, joined Royal Canadian Air Force; served on bases across Canada; 6 month tour of duty with United Nations in Ismailia, Egypt, 1975-1976; retired 1980 as Master Warrant Officer, Canadian Armed Forces.

After retirement, he worked for Corps Commissionaires; Nanaimo, BC. Volunteered administrative skills, Harewood Community Police Service.

Memberships & affiliations:

  • member, Nanaimo R.C. Modelers Club (remote controlled airplanes)
  • active with local cancer support groups; since 1991

At the time of his death, he resided at Aysgarth, Nanaimo, BC

Death

He had his first bout with cancer in 1991.

He died in Nanaimo on 6 February 1998 aged 66, widowing Betty. She never remarried.

He was cremated on 11 February 1998 at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens crematorium, in Cedar, British Columbia.
