Mary McNaughton (nee McCormick) (1856 - 1948) was the mother of Williamina Bessie Coulter and maternal grandmother of Ruth Newman.

Early life

Mary was born in 1856 to William McCormick and his second wife.

She married James McNaughton and bore his child, Williamina Bessie McNaughton.

She was widowed in 1932. She later moved in with her daughter Williamina, according to Ruth.

Death

Mary's daughter Williamina died of complications during a gall bladder surgery on 18 July 1948, aged 58.

According to Ruth Newman as told to her grandson Michael Currie in 2003, after this death, Mary died soon afterwards aged about 90, "of a broken heart".
