Jasmine was born in Red Deer, Alberta on 1 December 1977 to [[Chester Garnett Cairns]] (born 1955) and a woman called Brenda who left when she was a year old.  Jasmine has one full brother, [[Clinton Bryce Cairns]] (born 12 September 1976).

Jasmine was planning to go to New Zealand for a year, when on 1 December 2000 she went on a date with [[Ian Currie]].  It was a whirlwind romance: they were engaged on 14 February 2001, married 19 April 2001, and had their first child, [[Grady Currie|Grady]], on 18 November 2001.
She had a daughter, [[Madelyn Currie|Madelyn]], born 15 October 2003.
She and Ian make their home in Portage la Prairie.

Jasmine enjoys curling, and she is the former ladies' league curling champion of PLAP (Portage, aka P. la P.).  As of 2019 she intends to obtain her certificate to teach yoga and teach from her house's new yoga studio.
