Obituary

Mr. Bert Parkinson, 60 years of 565 Red River Road, passed away suddently Wednesday, May ? 1982. A well-known Thunder Bay barber, he was born at Rishton, Lanceshire, England. Served with the R.A.F. from 1939-1945 and trained in the Commonwealth Training Programme in Canada from 1942-1944. He was married at Fleetwood, Lanceshire, England October 11th, 1945 and came to Canada (Port Arthur) in August 1947. Survived by his wife Muriel, son Neil and family of Thunder Bay, daughter Melanie and family, of Edmonton (en route), brother Jack of England, various cousins and other relatives in Saskatchewan and England. A member of Trinity United Church, Trinity Choir, The Official Board, holding various positions. Previously a member of the Board of Stewards, Sunday School teacher and Superintendent for many years. A member of Shuniah Masonic Lodge #287 AF & AM, also the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Arthur Branch 5. Previously on the Board of Directors, Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra, and taught part-time at Gron Morgan High School for a number of years. Private cremation service. A memorial service for the late Mr. Bert Parkinson will be held on Sunday, May 9, 1982 at 7:30 p.m. in Trinity United Chured with Rev. J.H. Patterson officiating. A memorial service will also be held on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Trinity United Church by members of Shuniah Lodge #287 AF & AM. Everest Funeral Chapel, in charge of arrangements, in lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to Trinity United Church Memorial Fund or to charities of their own choice.
