Elizabeth Dougall ((1944-02-13)13 February 1944 – 12 October 2019(2019-10-12) (aged 75)) was a community leader and media executive in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Early life

Dougall was born on 13 February 1944 at Port Arthur General Hospital, the daughter of John and Eileen Burton. She attended Fort William Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto before graduating from Lakehead University with an English degree. She married Hector Fraser Dougall Jr. on 3 June 1963 and had three children: Hector, Scott, and Kirsten.

Career

Through Dougall Media, the family grew a portfolio of multiple radio and television stations and news outlets serving the Thunder Bay area. Dougall served as General Manager of Guide Printing, the company's publishing branch, and assumed the presidency of the company following her husband's death in 2015.

Her volunteer work included the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and the Lakehead Mental Health Association. She served as Campaign Chairperson for United Way Thunder Bay, with a 26-year involvement spanning board membership to the presidency. She co-founded the Thunder Bay Co-op Nursery School, served as Superintendent of CGIT at St Paul's United Church, and was a board member and President of Magnus Theatre Thunder Bay. She was a founding board member of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and received the United Way of Thunder Bay Ross B. Judge Volunteer Award of Excellence.

Death

Dougall died on 12 October 2019 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
