Elizabeth Wieben

Elizabeth Wieben is a Canadian aviator and educator based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, known for her long career as a pilot, flight instructor, and aviation heritage advocate.
Early life
Wieben is the eldest child of Orville Wieben, a well-known aviator and owner of Superior Airways. She earned her pilot's licence at age 17 and completed a business degree at Western University.
Career
Wieben worked in the family business as a pilot and manager of the Lakehead Flying School. After marrying geologist Robin Webster and becoming mother to four children, she continued to fly and instruct in the United States and Australia. She later took over a portion of the family business as Wieben Air, chartering planes and operating camps at Pays Plat.
From the 1980s into the early 2000s, Wieben taught academic and practical aviation courses at Confederation College Flight Division. She was appointed to the Canadian Civil Aviation Tribunal (now the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada) and retired in 2005.
Wieben is a founding board member and former president of the Northwestern Ontario Aviation Heritage Centre and a recipient of the Elsie McGill Northern Lights Award. She continues to fly in her 80s.
