Eva Maude Powley ((1875-12-28)28 December 1875 – 27 November 1969(1969-11-27) (aged 93)) was a Canadian lawyer, called to the Bar of Upper Canada on 24 June 1902 as Canada's second woman lawyer.

Early life and education

Powley was born on 28 December 1875. She attended St. Hilda's College at Trinity University in Toronto, and was the first person in Canada to take both University and Osgoode Hall law courses concurrently.

Career

After her call to the Bar on 24 June 1902, Powley practised law with the firm of Keefer & Keefer in Port Arthur. She resigned from practice in 1913. She later sailed to Europe aboard the RMS Empress of Ireland and subsequently worked in management roles in Winnipeg's coal industry.

She is buried at Riverside Cemetery, Thunder Bay.

Death

Powley died on 27 November 1969.
