Grace Ann Biggs Remus ((1911-05-15)15 May 1911 – 25 January 1977(1977-01-25) (aged 65)) was a Canadian nurse and civic politician who served on Fort William and Thunder Bay city councils.

Early life

Remus was born on 15 May 1911 in Pembroke, Ontario, the daughter of George D. Biggs, a former mayor of Pembroke. She graduated as a nurse from Pembroke Cottage Hospital and moved to Fort William in 1942 with her husband and two sons.

Career

In Fort William, Remus joined health-related community organisations including the Thunder Bay District Health Board. She expanded the McKellar Hospital Ladies Auxiliary's services across the region, growing its nursing residence and increasing hospital bed capacity.

She served on Fort William City Council from 1968 to 1969 and on Thunder Bay City Council from 1970 to 1976, advocating for health, housing, welfare, and industry. She supported the Chippewa Zoo and championed swimming programme implementation. She also served as Water Safety Committee Chairman for the Thunder Bay Red Cross.

Death

Remus died on 25 January 1977.
