Mary Ann Elliott

Mary Ann Elliott ((1838-05-25)25 May 1838 – 22 April 1927(1927-04-22) (aged 88)) was the wife of James Newman. Her father was William Elliott.

She was born in Northern Ireland. Her family immigrated to Essex County, Ontario, and settled in Rochester township in 1845.[1]

"In 1856 Mr. [James] Newman was united in marriage with Mary Ann Elliott, who was born in 1838, in Ireland, a daughter of William Elliott, who came to the County of Essex in 1845, and settled in Rochester township, where he died."

They had 11 children.

According to David Harold Newman in 2012, she may have been deaf.

She died on 22 April 1927 in Leamington, Ontario, and is buried with her husband in the Lakeview Cemetery, Leamington.[1]
