Melissa Holmquist (born circa 1985) is the daughter of Wendy Holmquist and the great-grandaughter of Ethel Markall.

From 2018 until at least 2020 she has been a dance teacher at her mother's studio, Dance Dynamics, focusing on the "Acrobatic Arts" division.

Career

Melissa Holmquist has been immersed in dance since the tender age of 2 and trained in Acro, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Cheerleading and Baton.

As a young performer and competitor she was awarded All Around Dancer, VIP Scholarships, Best of Show and many other top awards and scholarships most often in jazz and musical theatre.

Melissa continues to cultivate her proficiency in dance and has become an exceptional choreographer continuously challenging her students to push the envelope to achieve something new and exciting. Always looking for that WOW factor Melissa has an ingenious mind when it comes to gripping the audience with breath-taking routines.

At competitions, festivals, and conventions – locally, nationally and internationally – Dance America (Minneapolis, Toronto & Orlando), Dance Olympus (Minneapolis): American Dance Awards (Edmonton), Hall of Fame (Los Angeles) Coastal Dance Rage (Toronto); Starbound (Minneapolis); CentreStage Productions (Thunder Bay & Winnipeg), 5-6- 7-8 Showtime (Thunder Bay& Winnipeg), Starmakers Inc. (Hamilton); Talent on Parade (Minneapolis & Duluth); Thunderstruck Canada, Dance Canada, Star Systems (Minneapolis) KAR (Minneapolis) and the Lakehead Festival of Music and Arts- (Thunder Bay) her students and routines repeatedly earn top overalls and scholarships. Melissa is frequently acknowledged with best choreography awards and has been instrumental in the studio’s (Dance Dynamics Studio) being named Best of Show and Top Studio on numerous occasions.

Her training includes certification /exams and seminars /courses with the following accredited organizations, Acrobatic Arts- Module 1,2,&3, and is a Certified Acro Adjudicator. She also has ADAPT Teachers Training, Checcetti ballet exams, Al Gilbert Exams, Boston Dance Exams, Terpsichore Adjudicator, VIBE Dance, Progressing Ballet Technique, Rhythm Works Integrated Dance Teacher Certification, First Aid & CPR.

Passionate in her desire to see Acro dancers trained in a safe and technically correct manner Melissa continues to attend Acrobatic Arts staff summits and travels to cities throughout Canada and Untied States as an Acro adjudicator.
