Rebecca Johnson

Rebecca Johnson is a community leader and politician who served as an at-large councillor on Thunder Bay City Council from 2003 to 2022, one of the city's longest-serving councillors.
Career
After her husband's death when she was 25 years old, Johnson assumed farm operations while raising four children. She subsequently built a career of over 40 years as a community leader, advocate, mentor, and volunteer.
She served on Thunder Bay City Council as an at-large councillor from 2003 to 2022 and sat on more than 20 boards, including those of Lakehead University, Age Friendly Thunder Bay, United Way, the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy, and Women in Politics Northwestern Ontario.
Johnson hosted the television programme Community Clipboard on Shaw Cable for 20 years. She received the City of Thunder Bay Achievement Award and the Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2021, Age Friendly Thunder Bay renamed its senior award the Rebecca Johnson Age Friendly Senior Award in her honour.
