Richard Graham Poster

Richard K. Graham Poster ((1981-12-06)6 December 1981 – 30 July 2024(2024-07-30) (aged 42)) was a man raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He attended Pine Street School.

Ancestry

His paternal grandmother was Laura Poster (nee Wiitamaki) (1 April 1942 - 18 November 2010).

His paternal step-grandfather was Robert Poster, who was from Geraldton and "attended local schools and went on to follow his father and brothers in the McLeod Cockshutt Mine [1931 - 1970] in Geraldton." He was paralyzed in 1972 from an automobile accident but married Laura the following year and adopted her two children, Dwayne and Darcy.

Early Life

He was born to Dwayne Poster and Heather Graham? in 1981.

Richard had a brother, Darryl, "peanut", who died in 2003 ("passing at age 16 from cancer.")

He attended Pine Street School as part of the French Immersion Class of 1996 from about 1993 - 1994. Around this time he was living in duplex housing near Academy Towers.

Relationship

He was since at least 2018 in a relationship with Kelly Haney, who has a daughter, Kelly (born circa 2005). "The man I love is missing, but my heart is still with him.❤️" was his tagline on Facebook as of 2026. Kelly has since 2017 an airport shuttle business, https://www.kellycoach.ca/.

Death

Richard was living in a tent and sadly died of a drug overdose around 30 July 2024; his body was dumped by his fellow drug users into the Neebing McIntyre Floodway near Intercity Mall at 48.40134437457838, -89.24100694011452, but this was not known to anyone for nearly two years.

His family made extensive appeals via a Facebook group (Richard Graham Missing Person (created on 22 October 2024)) and in-person canvassing to find him; on 22 May 2026 his body was found by the police; it's baffling this body wasn't found earlier given the location would be one of the most obvious ones to look first.

On 22 May 2026 his father Dwayne wrote in the Richard Graham Missing Person Facebook group:

It has been a difficult evening for our family as today at 6:15 pm I was informed of the discovery of a male fitting Richard’s description. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet positively, from the description the police gave it likely is him. Thanks to you all for caring enough to follow our page and show your concern for us all. To folks searching for the other lost souls thanks for finding him. The phone calls to my family before I had a chance to notify any of them didn’t go unnoticed. Not cool you’re supposed to be a professional and have caused great distress. Richard’s mother was completely blown away. I will take a day or so to process this and say proper thank you’s and give thanks to the creator for what was givin as a gift 42 years ago. I deeply loved this boy and missed him everyday he missing. He is with his brother Darryl and the granma and Papa and hopefully has found the peace he never could find. 😭

Thanks to Thunder Bay Police service for following every lead no matter how crazy. Jeff , Brad , Ryan I said it before I don’t know how you people do it.

"This is the face of my son Richard. He is not just an addict. He is Heather and My son , he is brother to Ashley and Derek. He has survived the break up of our household and faced much abuse at the hands of a terrible family that he was brought into through marriage. These are the things that people don’t know about him. All his Grandparents have passed ,-he has buried a brother at a young age due to cancer. He has been missing far too long. We need him back. Don’t Judge Till You Know or walked a KM in his shoes."

"Richard Graham December 6, 1981 age 42 Went missing from Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada on July 30/24. Richard is a talented, intelligent, gentle soul that has faced addiction & mental health struggles until the day this world swallowed him up and stole him from us. We don’t know where Richard is, and there is a part of us that can never move on until we find him & bring him home! We created this Facebook Page as a beacon, a light always left burning, in hopes that one day someone will find their way here with the information necessary to lead us to Richie. Also, this page is for anyone that wants to share about how Richard touched their lives and for all his loved ones to have a place to go when we want to open our hearts to be with Richard. Richard we love you, come find our light that burns for you, Richie please come home"

Two years later his father had become much more pessimistic:

"I am not looking to have people put in jail over this . Richard chose this lifestyle over everything else . I have come to this realization after almost 2 years of searching and seeing the same faces out in the street . I just want his body back so we can move on. There is no moving on when a person is missing there’s no good byes . Just Hopes And Prayers he is found . I have listened to so many versions of the same story and the same names come up just different locations . Some say Kam River Heritage Park by the train he was dumped in the water. Others say Marina Park under the overpass he was dumped in the water there. In all these stories lead to at least 2 others probably more doing drugs in a tent, Richard ODs they panic and toss him in the water. The persons involved we have a pretty good idea who you are drunks and addicts all. Give Me Back what you tossed away as trash and never looked back. We need this to end .-Dwayne(Dad)" - 28 April 2026 [1]

A body was found on 23 May 2026. It's baffling why this wasn't found earlier given that surely this river is the first place the police should be looking. [2]
