The mission of ThunderBay.wiki is to build a comprehensive, interconnected historical graph of Thunder Bay and the people who built this community, using the AI techniques to automate the process as much as possible.

Because we use advanced automated AI agents to aggregate historical records, we take privacy, data protection, and compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) very seriously. To protect the privacy of our current community, our data collection is strictly divided into historical archiving and user-consented profiles.

1. Historical Residents

The core of ThunderBay.wiki is historical and genealogical research.

  • Scope: Our systems autonomously collect, map, and publish comprehensive biographies for individuals who have been deceased for 20 years or more, as well as limited obituary-sourced memorial pages for recent passings.
  • Sources: These profiles are generated entirely from publicly available historical records, census data, digitized museum archives, and public obituaries.
  • Compliance: Under Canadian law, privacy rights are tied to living individuals. By focusing our automated archival efforts strictly on the deceased, we preserve the rich history of Thunder Bay while fully respecting the privacy of today's residents.

2. Living Residents (Strictly Opt-In)

We do not autonomously generate, scrape, or publish articles about living individuals.

If you are a current, living resident of Thunder Bay, our systems are explicitly programmed to ignore your digital footprint. You will not appear in the database by default; you will be marked with a [[Category:Living persons]]

However, the most fascinating part of history is how it connects to the present. If you want to document your place in the community and trace your connections to the historical figures, businesses, or families already mapped on the wiki, you must explicitly request to be added.

  • The Process: To authorize the creation of your article, visit https://curriepedia.org/optin or email mcurrie@gmail.com with your request, stating that you consent to having a profile created.
  • Consent: By submitting a request, you grant us explicit, informed consent to verify your identity and generate a biography connecting you to the ThunderBay.wiki community graph.
  • Control: Because your presence on the wiki is entirely voluntary, you retain the right to withdraw your consent and have your profile completely removed at any time. To withdraw, email the same address.
