Gwen O'Reilly

Gwen O'Reilly is a women's rights activist and Director of the Northwestern Ontario Women's Centre, known for her advocacy on gender-based violence, food security, and systemic justice in Thunder Bay.
Early life
O'Reilly was accepted into the HBSc Forestry program at Lakehead University in 1977, one of fewer than ten women in a class exceeding one hundred students.
Career
O'Reilly has served as Director of the Northwestern Ontario Women's Centre since 1991. She was a leading advocate in securing Thunder Bay City Council's declaration of gender-based violence as a public health epidemic. She has administered the Good Food Box Program since 2005.
In 2019 she received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Lakehead University. She is also a recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
